Dental Insurance and Plan Options
Jason Raphael
Dental Health is an important topic that is often over-looked. 75% of Americans do not have dental insurance, and do not visit a dentist regularly. Most dental problems are almost entirely avoidable with preventive dentistry. This includes brushing your teeth 3 times a day after meals, using dental floss, and visiting a dentist every 8 months for a cleaning. However, visiting the dentist can be cost prohibitive, and I will present an option that makes sense economically.
Dental Insurance can be very expensive, as most companies do not offer their employees a dental insurance plan. The average family can not justify the out of pocket expense. More often than not, buying dental insurance is like throwing your hard earned money out the window.
Dental Plans are an affordable alternative. Almost all dental plans pay for themselves after one or two dental visits. Here's how they work. An individual pays a small one time fee to receive a discount when they go to the dentist. Like insurance, there are select dentists in the customer's area that offer the discounts. These pre-defined discounts include services such as cleaning, x-rays, and cavity fillings. Dental plans are a great option for individuals or families that enjoy the security of knowing that their dental services won't cost an arm or a leg. Companies can also offer dental plans at a subsidized price instead of Insurance.
